LM-RACE544LM-RACE544American Racing Mower Association (ARMA) held it's 2006 Season finals November 11th, 2006 at the Gloucester Moose Lodge #886, in Gloucester, Va. Here over 45 participants took place in 9 different race heats. Classes ranged from stock with average speeds of 2-5mph up to the Super Sportsman were speeds can reach between 35-65mph. The Gloucester Moose Lodge sponsored this years finals, estimates of people who watched the races throughout the day was around 250 people.

On the first lap in turn 2 of the finial heat for the Super Sportsman, racer #1 Tom Bardies(bottom) of Culpepper, Va. was jammed on the inside causing him to flip his mower. John Mattis #044 of Gwynn Island, Va tried to avoid Bardies, however in the evasive action Mattis' mower ran over Bardies and Mattis goes flying over the top and somersalts before being hit by another mower before all riders came to a stop. Four mowers where involved in the accident. Both drivers, Mattis and Bardies walked away from the crash with only bruises.
